Autosuggestion and The Paranormal

He did not want to hire shepherds, nor did he want to erect a fence about the pasture where the sheep were grazing. The sheep consequently often wandered into the forest, fell into ravines and so on, and above all, they ran away, for they knew that the magician wanted their flesh and their skins, and this they did not like.
At last the magician found a remedy. He hypnotized his sheep and suggested to them,first of all, that they were immortal and that no harm was being done to them when they were skinned; that on the contrary, it would be very good for them and even pleasant; secondly he suggested that the magician was a good master who loved his flock so much that he was ready to do anything in the world for them; and in the third place, he suggested that if anything at all were going to happen to them, it was not going to happen just then, at any rate not that day, and therefore they had no need to think about it. Further, the magician suggested to his sheep that they were not sheep at all; to some of them he suggested that they were lions, to some that they were eagles, to some that they were men, to others that they were magicians. Is our normal waking state a trance? It was Colin Wilson who observed that "Dr. Miller says we are pessimistic because life seems like a very bad, very screwed-up film. If you ask "What the hell is wrong with the projector?" and go up to the control room, you find it's empty. You are the projectionist, and you should have been up there all the time.”
Walk down any avenue and carefully observe those you pass. You will largely observe a dreamlike mental condition. The condition you see is one of being so lost in thought as to be, to a great extent, largely unaware of one’s physical surroundings.

Beta brain waves designate the general state of waking consciousness. As a consequence, this state has been 'normalized'. This normalization is a challengable value judgement. This consciously awake beta state may still be considered as a trance because it involves the selective filtering of information and utilizes cognitive, awareness and mentation resources in specific ways. G. Spencer Brown in 'The Laws of Form' observed that the processing or filtering of reality is; "Well, it is a value judgment, true enough. In reality, it is all the same. In reality, it is a matter of indifference, but we are not here in reality. We are here on a system of assumptions, and we are all busy maintaining them. On that system, then we can say, "Well, that will keep the ship afloat, and this will pull the plug out and we will all sink."

Suggestions can also have an effect in the absence of a hypnosis. These so-called "waking suggestions" are given in precisely the same way as "hypnotic suggestions" (i.e., suggestions given within hypnosis) and can produce strong changes in perceptual experience. Experiments on suggestion, in the absence of hypnosis, were conducted by early researchers. More recently, researchers such as Nicholas Spanos and Irving Kirsch have conducted experiments investigating such non-hypnotic-suggestibility and found a strong correlation between people's responses to suggestion both in and outside hypnosis. Are paranormal events responsible for transforming the parameters of our perceptions by suggesting there exists a reality outside the bounds of conceptual terms? Autosuggestion is a very powerful mental process. Autosuggestion is the term applied to all ideas, thoughts, proposals, or affirmations that are applied by yourself and that reach the mind through the five senses. In the simplest language auto-suggestion is simply self suggestion or the process of making suggestions to yourself. They are the most dominant of your thoughts - the ones you dwell on, the ones that stay in the foreground of your mind that reach the subconscious mind and influence it.

What energetic force is such that it lies between the two sides, of one page of the aggregate book we occupy and author, that has set forth an invasion of our permeable boundaries as participating observers lodged between the skin of our corporeal membrane and the landscape of our invisible nature? On the sea, on the land and in the air, we have a zoological outbreak of tangible phantasms in a widely variegated spectrum which aggressively place themselves as territorial markers, indicating another parallel world that is intent upon making it's presence known. Does it arise from within or without or in between these dimensions of the receptive range carried as simulating data carried by our sensory spectrum? In order to systematize this phenomenon, perhaps a review of the dynamics of the energetic information field upon which these events interpenetrate is a good place to begin.

We have noted in previous posts that the individuation of the human species is one largely created by the artifice of persona, whose cultural parameters are perhaps most accurately described as a singularity divided, classified and sorted into a taxonomy of axiomatic distinctions.Much of the contention and concern about suggestibility as an Achilles heel in the armor of human autonomy is the thread which perhaps weaves the fabric of history, which is also,perhaps the history of social intelligence, which may represent a mean average of the species.

Cognition in the process of language acquisition... of a phrase that must occur before the decision how to act next can occur: because the concepts must exist before the mind as a framing set of predetermined choices. Either they are suggested from this equation itself, or in response to introduced suggestions of concepts from outside - the world and its scenarios and facts, or suggest. The subconscious mind does not know the difference between reality and what we loosely think of as imagination. This is partly because the subconscious mind is limited to deductive logic, and partly because of the dynamics involved in keeping subconscious processes sub or unconscious. Perhaps the subconscious is actually that portion of our cognition that has not yet been if you will programmed by a semiotic language.

Deductive logic is the process of reasoning from the general to the specific. Inductive logic forms generalities from specifics and is the logic of science. Much of the uniqueness and contradiction that inhere in the "subconscious" mind are possible because of this limitation in reasoning capability which is the programming language of thought.. A suggestion may direct the thoughts to notice a new concept, focus on a specific area within the world, offer new perspectives which may later influence action-choices, offer triggers for automatic behavior, or indicate specific action types.

"Then there is the further question of what is the relationship of thinking to reality. As careful attention shows, thought itself is in an actual process of movement. That is to say, one can feel a sense of flow in the stream of consciousness not dissimilar to the sense of flow in the movement of matter in general. May not thought itself thus be a part of reality as a whole? But then, what could it mean for one part of reality to 'know' another, and to what extent would this be possible?"

In this case, an empirical methodology based on a presumed rationality is patently misleading. One only has to read "The Crowd: The Study of the Popular Mind" by Gustave LeBon to unravel this entanglement of this heterogeneous tragicomedy to explore the organic nature of humanity en mass,in great detail.



What we are exploring is the auto suggestive nature of semiotic terms enfolded into language which translates into behaviors.Perhaps language acquisition is, in of itself, is a matter of suggestion techniques. It was RD Lang who noted that; "The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds."

Then perhaps if this is so, does this reformulate the acquisition of knowledge required to place a foundational set of concepts in advance of contact between ourselves and another species? Is suggestion a technique toward staging a direct contact? Or, are we held in check by a process we are unable to separate ourselves from? We perhaps are entrained in composite processes much like the relationship between ROM and RAM, which utilize various programs to actuate activity.
"As a metaphor - and I stress that it is intended as a metaphor - the concept of an invariant that arises out of mutually or cyclically balancing changes may help us to approach the concept of self. In cybernetics this metaphor is implemented in the ‘closed loop’, the circular arrangement of feedback mechanisms that maintain a given value within certain limits. They work toward an invariant, but the invariant is achieved not by a steady resistance, the way a rock stands unmoved in the wind, but by compensation over time. Whenever we happen to look in a feedback loop, we find the present act pitted against the immediate past, but already on the way to being compensated itself by the immediate future. The invariant the system achieves can, therefore, never be found or frozen in a single element because, by its very nature, it consists in one or more relationships - and relationships are not in things but between them. If the self, as I suggest, is a relational entity, it cannot have a locus in the world of experiential objects. It does not reside in the heart, as Aristotle thought, nor in the brain, as we tend to think today. It resides in no place at all, but merely manifests itself in the continuity of our acts of differentiating and relating and in the intuitive certainty we have that our experience is truly ours."

The ghost however remains in the forefront in this adaptive abdication akin to a machine as attention in of itself does not require memory. The interface between an individual and that of it's larger composite members within his species,seems to indicate a disconnect between the qualities of the individual and that of the whole wherein a crowd as an organism indicates a lower intelligence.

"We see, then, that the disappearance of the conscious personality, the predominance of the unconscious personality, the turning by means of suggestion and contagion of feelings and ideas in an identical direction, the tendency to immediately transform the suggested ideas into acts; these, we see, are the principal characteristics of the individual forming part of a crowd. He is no longer himself, but has become an automaton who has ceased to be guided by his will."

If you remove the equations of language as a semiotic field representing a quasi-intermediate reality, which subdivides itself by cultural, geopolitical,religious, ethnic,racial and philosophic terms, all of which are self referential...we are faced with a composite holography of an unusual composite creature we term a sentient species, which, perhaps, in this sense represents more of a singularity of sentience rather than the confusion of babble that these yes \no frames present, which is a self defining adaptation to materiality itself wherein, as we have said, the equations of our semiotic dictionary is largely a referential simulation based on cognitive errors, wherein we ourselves have become so divided as a microcosm of a larger whole.

And so perhaps we see this as the membrane of a living and organic sphere wherein on the exterior, a singularity is differentiated on axiomatic terms which are self referential whereas the interior of this field of information is a singularity of potential that is yet to be realized.The dynamics between the two is perhaps the dynamic of human evolution in terms of perception and awareness. On the other hand, one can only imagine the difficulties this would present if a non human species was determined to wade into these waters in an attempt to interface with this divided and differentiated formulation of sentience that we represent.

The mathematics of our adaptation to residing within the frame which is the artifice of terms is perhaps best observed by the easily suggested alteration and reorientation of this embedding entanglement that is posed by the semi hypnotic state this organization and arrangement of this information field presents to us, by the easily documented behavior of our species, which essentially is led by the nose by it's own creations, indicating an interim disconnect in evolutionary terms. Our terms drive us rather than the other way around.

When we consider the technological advances of our species we see more evidence of this state, wherein the application of these advances are seemingly beyond the control of it's innovators, driven by this force. Another is equally obvious, warfare. Technological applications increasingly are inseparable from their use as weaponry either in a direct or indirect application which arises from behavior which is driven by the auto suggestibility of the human species terms. This strange form of predetermination on several levels in anticipating the next technology as applied to the next war as a matter of course, is another clue hiding in broad daylight. We are driven, not driving within the parameters of a auto suggestive lens.

This cascading structure of predetermination in relation to behavior would present a formidable challenge to a non human sentience based on what appears to a key feature of any interaction, which would be bypassing this double bind of autonomic behavior when presented with a mass of individuated creatures of our species, who seemingly are incapable of not being swayed by the psychology of themselves en mass. Or could this psychology be manipulated?


The Mirror of Consciousness
One of the most interesting events documented at Princeton's PEAR laboratory was the effect seen upon the empirical generation of random numbers that were arranged in a coherent manner by the existence of perhaps what can best be described, as we have, by a human, energetic field of information when these seemingly anomalous impacts were driven by large scale events upon the surface of this planet.

In other words the "normally" differentiated aspect of the outer surface of this membrane representing a holographic sphere whose interior, as we said, represents a singularity of potential force, was provided a coherency of in the varying degrees by the singularity of a shared event, which created a force an impact upon empirical randomness itself. This energetic field, I suggest would be the targeted interface of a sentient extraterrestrial species who have a clear understanding of these dynamics that both disperse and organize the locus of our attention and cognition...the auto-suggestive nature of semiotic terms versus the enormous potential of the energetic information field as a under utilized resource. One of the more ironic use of terms is the word extraterrestrial.

We can not locate consciousness as a terrestrial objectified reality except by it's effect which is very similar to that of the anomalous effects we also are entangled within. A coincidence? If we abide by theories of quantum principles of consciousness in that it may be we are of a non local nature then perhaps it is we ourselves who are non terrestrial. Beyond this consideration, we see perhaps a confirmation of our own encapsulation within the limitation of our terms, throughout our recorded history.

"Most anomalous phenomena that confront scientific logic tend to have only local impact within their particular disciplinary contexts, and to arise and be resolved relatively quickly compared to the overall evolutionary paces of those fields. In rarer instances, such as the anomalous celestial observations that contradicted the prevailing geocentric models, or the array of atomic-scale physical anomalies that precipitated the quantum revolution, their implications can extend much more broadly, and efforts toward their resolution can become more widespread, protracted, and intense. The one genre of anomalous human experience that has dwarfed all others in endurance, ubiquity, implications,and resistance to rational comprehension involves some of the most basic processes of consciousness upon which its observational and deductive skills are based. Throughout recorded history, anecdotal instances of inexplicable consciousness-related anomalies have regularly been reported and variously cataloged as "miracles", "magic", "intuition", "alchemical transmutations", "psychic phenomena", or"gremlins", along with countless other categories of elusive experiences, but little coherence has ever been established among them. Yet, these incomprehensible events have had immense influence on human culture, stimulating the development of religious doctrines, ethical conventions, and even scientific methodology."

The result of where this interaction occurs between a suggestible state driven by the fixed calculation of terms preceding cognition and the potentiality of this field which is unrealized would by necessity require a demonstrative stage upon which a non linguistic marker(s) would be inserted wherein in no terms exist.As Dr Jacques Vallee noted “The phenomenon presented by UFOs is far larger than current speculation about “aliens from space.” It raises questions about consciousness, about the nature of reality and about human history on the Earth. "


This strategy is perhaps representative of an advanced sentience creating a symbiotic form required for the expansion of terms in a non linguistic demonstration of potentiality as a preliminary strata of deconstruction of a self referential series of behaviors.One is reminded of Chuang Tzu's aphorism toward the self referential and the potentialities that remain unseen; "All men know the use of the useful, but nobody knows the use of the useless. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so that I can have a word with him?'

The bridging of sensory information toward a targeted potentiality is a provocative rearrangement of the observer toward the observed. This reorientation would have an effect upon terms, and consequently, insert a momentum onto a largely entropic evolutionary process of cognition which has reached a parabolic dead end in cultural and behavioral terms as one aspect of the effective behavior of terms interpenetrates drives the terms of physical behavior and not the other way round.

Or is it a case of a quantum interface with a energetic force which suspends itself between a particle and a wave in a unique fashion, wherein the conceptual set of expectation according to the individuated terms of translation provide a bias that is made manifest in a intermediary mirroring of content? Perhaps it is both in the case that it's manifestation is dependent upon the origination of circumstance in relation to the observer.

We reflect upon the field in which these phenomenon occur and then consider the nature of anomalous activity:

A. The purpose of these suggestive or auto suggestive demonstrations may be a staged strategy prior to the impact of yet another phase which attenuates the potentiality of this information field toward a process of being steered, geared and driven to a predetermined outcome based upon the dynamics of suggestibility.

B.Are we being redirected by a form of mass hypnosis? Or, is this realm of suggestibility more complex than we have described?

C.Could it be a representation of an unknown interface of our own field consciousness being reflected by an unknown intermediate state, which in turn is then individuated?
