Ruminations On An Asteroid Named 1685 Toro

The Origin of The Moon and 2012

“And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.”
-The Apocalypse

Is this the ancient description of an asteroid strike?

The year 2012 is the subject of much speculation and a variety of theories from Terrence McKenna's Timewave Zero to Planet X, all of which seemingly connect to the Mayan Calendar and depending on what and whom you read, the speculations are such that it will either be the demarcation of a catastrophic event and\or representative of a shift in our awareness of the larger universe.

Known by some as "Earth's second satellite", 1685 Toro is an asteroid discovered by Carl A. Wirtanen in 1948. Robert Freitas of SETA (search for extraterrestrial artifacts) made the following observation about this example of the Toro Class of asteroid specifically about 1685 Toro:

” One special orbit of interest is the unusual resonance of asteroid 1685 Toro with Earth (8:5) and Venus (13:5) which appears to be stabilized by close approaches to within 9 x 106 kin of Earth twice every eight years. The orbit has been found stable for integration times up to 5000 years, and it is believed that Mars perturbations set an upper limit of 3 x 106 years for the librations”

It next near approach will occur in 2012.

More on resonance later. Is 1685 Toro a portion of the Earth, having been severed as is the history of our main satellite? Consider for a moment that something as large and as close to Earth as the Moon remains a perennial mystery as to it's origin despite the fact we have set foot upon it's surface.

When searching for a correspondence, recorded in history one recalls the concept reflected in the title of "Hamlet's Mill: An Essay Investigating the Origins of Human Knowledge And Its Transmission Through Myth" that dense and deeply rewarding book on this self same subject written by Giorgio De Santillana and Hertha Von Dechend.

Thomas F. King in "Do Global Myths Reflect an Ancient Disaster?" looked at the work of Bruce Masse of Los Alamos National Laboratory and explained that "When he (Bruce) thought objectively about how myths come to be, and who creates and sustains them, it made sense that they would encode impressive and hard-to-account-for events. "A myth," he says, "is an analogical story created by highly skilled and trained cultural knowledge specialists (such as priests or historians) using supernatural images in order to explain otherwise inexplicable natural events or processes." The priest doesn't just invent his story of the sun being eaten by a giant dog; he comes up with it as a means of explaining an eclipse that has his people scared out of their wits."
Mr Masse's thoughts mirror precisely those of GI Gurdjieff who termed this form of "objective art" a legominism, a technique of transmitting through initiates information about certain events of long-past ages which occurred on the planet Earth.

One recalls a certain Dr Velikovsky and his correlation of mythology, and astronomical events in relation to catastrophism, and to explain the celestial mechanics necessary to permit these changes to the configuration of the solar system, he thought that electromagnetic forces might somehow play a greater role to counteract gravity and orbital mechanics.

"There have been, and will be again, many destruction's of mankind arising out of many causes; the greatest have been brought about by the agencies of fire and water, and other lesser ones by innumerable other causes. There is a story, which even you have preserved, that once upon a time Phaethon, the son of Helios, having yoked the steeds in his father's chariot, because he was not able to drive them in the path of his father, burnt up all that was upon the earth, and was himself destroyed by a thunderbolt. Now this has the form of a myth, but really signifies a declination of the bodies moving in the heavens around the earth, and a great conflagration of things upon the earth, which recurs after long intervals ..."
- Plato, Timaeus

Interestingly, GI Gurjieff made an identical observation as to the existence of such a celestial body as 1685 Toro with a enormous elliptical orbit terming it "a second moon" he termed Anulios, which the aforementioned scientific community discovered much later in 1948. Anyone familiar with the Gurdjieff material knows his propensity for cobbling together words from a variety of sources as he felt often that existing words did not fit his purposes. As in Anulios, look at the root word.

In Sumerian mythology and later for Assyrians and Babylonians, Anu (also An; (from Sumerian *An = sky, heaven)) was a sky-god, the god of heaven, lord of constellations, king of gods, spirits and demons, and dwelt in the highest heavenly regions. It was believed that he had the power to judge those who had committed crimes, and that he had created the stars as soldiers to destroy the wicked.

James Moore, the author of "Gurdjieff:The Anatomy of A Myth" describes this process as Gurdjieff intentionally placed it, squarely within a Mythos; "Once upon a time, due as he wryly puts it, to ‘the erroneous calculations of a certain Sacred Individual’ , a vast wandering comet named Kondoor violently struck the as yet uninhabited earth, creating an ‘asphyxiating stink’ and precipitating into elliptical geo-centric orbit two detached earthly fragments – the moon and ‘Anulios.’ This unnatural and untimely Caesarean birth of the moon..."

In another analogy within myth, there is the story of a woman about to give birth..

In this light we ruminate on the strange Apocalyptic metaphor of a the birth of a "child", perhaps the Earth itself, who was carried by "The woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared " in a "desert" who was to be destroyed by a seemingly chaotic and satanic force, which was "chained" and shackled to the Earth after being hurled from the sky. Are these references to the forces, perhaps an asteroid that created 1685 Toro and was subsequently embedded beneath it's surface? Or inversely, a cyclic influence of disruption to the delicate balancing act of resonance that exists among the planetary orbits of the inner solar system? Or both? Is the Lilith of myth,a "woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head" the same as 1685 Toro asteroid, and is this object the "mother" of the moon?

Perhaps some 770,000 years ago, a huge asteroid or meteor if you prefer, collided with the Earth and blanketed an enormous debris field of tektites and microtektites over fully 10% of our planet's surface (about 5 x 107 square kilometers). Was there a similar collision earlier in Earth's history? In mythology, perhaps there is an account whose signal strength has been weakened by the centuries of transmission, which brings several aspects of mythology to mind.;orb=1

In Astrology, Toro is represented by a Bull which corresponds to the term Taurus, which signifies a force of power and control that is an asteroid associated with the Goddess Lilith who is first identified in very early Talmudic texts which, in turn, reflected again, in the Apocalypse, a woman fleeing to a desert location.

The fact that she may have found a place of rest in the desert may reference the earlier text of the Sumerian Gilgamesh, as after Lilith fled into the "uninhabited place" where she apparently found refuge there. Also the defeat of a chaotic and satanic force in the symbology of a snake repeats itself. The Sumerian legend of Lilith is found in over 100 different religious conceptual texts.

In Greek mythology, most interestingly, she is the goddess of the dark moon.

"Gilgamesh struck the serpent who could not be charmed.
The Anzu-bird flew with his young to the mountains;
And Lilith smashed her home and >fled to the wild, uninhabited places."

Is this a clue as to the location of an impact as being turned into a desert, consequently did a portion continue on it's path much as our moon, only upon a much more expansive orbit. Was the woman who fled to the desert, Lilith?

Interestingly hard science has found that in terms of an inductive or feminine principle "the results show that Toro is at present captured in resonance with the Earth and also that Venus has a drastic influence on the orbital elements."
Toro according to astrology, has a specific resonance that corresponds to the Gurdjieff interpretation of Planetary bodies as conceptualized by Pythagoras. Resonance had it's place in antiquity as well.

Pythagoras discovered that musical notes could be translated into mathematical equations deducing that the sounds of a blacksmith's anvil were simple ratios of each other, one was half the size of the first, another was 2/3 the size, and so forth.....Pythagoras taught the "harmony of the spheres." He sensed that the planets and stars moved according to mathematical equations, which corresponded to musical notes and thus produced a symphony. In the system of transposed astrological octaves Toro in it's lower range is influenced by Mars and the higher range being Jupiter.According to Gurdjieff, this completing process must without exception have seven discrete phases: construing these as an ascending or descending series of seven notes or pitches, the frequency of vibrations must develop irregularly, with two predictable deviations...just where semi-tones are missing between Mi-Fa and Si-Do in the C major scale CDE-FGAB-C.

Also, as an aside to this subject one considers in this light, the late Dr Gerald Hawkin's discovery of diatonic ratios within the "crop circles" that exhibited a high degree of accuracy in their construction.

"Resonances and Encounters In The Inner Solar System" makes for interesting reading in terms of the dynamics, interrelations and evolution of the systems of asteroids and comets.

Is Toro 1685 the stuff of a mythological legominism as a text of encrypted information or is this example in finding a pattern in random data? Is the date of 2012 simply a coincidence? As always,I leave this up to you.

Then again, if this is so, perhaps this provides a purpose for a more advanced species to study this situation and remain in near earth proximity while remaining aloof, in order to intervene at the appropriate opportunity, while not communicating their purpose prior to demonstrating their benign intent. An act of intervention might be worth a thousand words.
