Part Two of Antartica: The Once and Future Atlantis

The Secret Lands of Rand Flem-Ath, Grand Admiral Dönitz and James Forrestal


Competitive Histories and Conceptual Frames
This is the story of two alternate histories that are hidden from common view, which although they follow their respective causation's in precession, they seemingly seemingly intersect and enfold upon each other at the end of the known world. The first is concerned with, quite literally, an upside down geography, the second, a revision of World War Two history, both of which reside, buried beneath the protected cover of Antarctica. The effects of this enigmatic island are twofold.

The relationship between planetary axial rotation and precession is a topic of great interest in the scientific community in relation to global warming and many theories abound. Scientists are studying the effects of the collapse of Antarctica's ice sheet in that it would have such profound effects by shifting the planet's rotation, sending a bulge of water into the Northern Hemisphere.
This enormous ice sheet, which is collapsing as the climate warms, is so heavy that as it melts it "will actually cause the Earth's rotation axis to shift rather dramatically," reports a team led by geophysicist Jerry Mitrovica, at the University of Toronto. These scientists predict that the North and South poles would move about half a mile in their estimations,if the entire ice sheet collapses and shifts more water north.
Another consideration is the effect on the rotational speed of the earth as some feel that as water is released from the ice, the earth slows in it's rotation,thus exponentially speeding up the process of it's release. Does the unveiling of our Atlantis portend a recurrence of it's demise?



Sediments under the Ross Ice Shelf have also been analyzed in a parallel study by a specialist in glaciers from the Victoria University in New Zealand, which revealed that there is evidence the platform collapsed on a regular basis during the Pliocene when the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere were similar or slightly higher than the current ones. The research sought to identify the relationship between orbital cycles and the pattern of collapse of the Ross Ice Shelf. This pattern suggests that there was an influence of the cycles of 40,000 years in the inclination of the rotational axis of the earth during the Pliocene which led to the subsequent collapse of the ice.

On the other side of this coin regarding this once and future Atlantis, are the events that may have led to a large naval expeditionary force into a disastrous and ill fated rush preemptively thwarting the reconstitution of a Third Reich well hidden in retreat, within the remote last redoubt of Antarctica One could consider these anomalies of theory to be either provocative, disturbing or ludicrous. What connects these two threads is the anomaly and persistent phenomenon of UFOs which hang over the globe as perhaps a proverbial plumb bob. In this we have the intrigue associated with an interesting cast of characters associated with the anomalies of history, from Admiral Byrd to James Forrestal, as well as Martin Borman thrown in for good measure. An Atlantis of nexus as a pivot point around which this tale of mythologies revolve.

The Inversion of The Known World
One vital aspect of the global weather system is the axial orientation of our planet in relation to it's engine, which is the Sun. Correspondingly we have the profound effect of centripetal diffusion of the sun's energy. What this means that if we cross sectioned the Earth, what we have are a series of circles, the broadest of which are in the center and the smallest of which are near the point of axial rotation. The rate of rotation of each of this circles varies according to their diameter, the slowest of which are at the center. The rotation of atmospheric systems follow the rotation speed of our planet. Any change in rotational speed would cause a severe reorientation of the corresponding velocity of these systems as they circumnavigate the circumference of the Earth. Anyone who is familiar with equatorial weather conditions knows that the points of axial rotation dictate not only weather systems but which geographic area is more warmed by the sun in relation to others. Any reorientation of our axial points of rotation in geographic terms would have a enormous if not catastrophic effect on regional climates. This, in turn would cause the desertification of formerly lush regions, the glaciation of some as well as the circulation of oceanic currents, tidal lift, and most importantly, the enormous migration of large portions of the Earth's human and animal population from one region to another. Another is a comparatively rapid extinction of others.

A radical shift in axial rotation would cause immediate and severe atmospheric conditions such as winds due to the instantaneous reorientation of pressure zones,the reorientation of tidal pull from the moon in turn causing causing changes in the gravitational, magnetic and rotational speed found in the dynamics of our planetary environment.


At the core of this catastrophic reorientation would be the reorientation of geographic regions upon the continents that easily ascertained by the positioning of star systems in relation to the earth bound observers corresponding position. Their orientation would shift overnight. One interesting aspect of the aftereffects of such a radical planetary shift, should one occur, would be the uncertainty principal at play in the understandable psychology of those inhabitants who survived. Would this change be repeated, predictable,and tracked and\or would this change occur in a evening, a week or a matter of months?

One of the strange but telling aspects of ancient civilizations is their insistence on being oriented to specific constellations, which may have served a more pragmatic purpose than we currently suppose as we have blithely determined that this was the result of cultural anthropology at play in the form of myth. If the axial shift of the earths rotational orientation occurred, what is it's origin? If one follows the role of myth in relation to the conceptual model of these narratives holding and preserving knowledge from one generation to the next by a priesthood so dedicated, the viral dissemination of the exoteric aspects of these "stories" would be to preserve them in terms of their corresponding degree of distribution in the body of origin stories with apparently the anthropocentric design of characters events being the carrier, thus forming a more personal relationship to their preservation in terms of meaning.

In Part Three, we will explore Charles Hapgood's theories in terms of crustal displacement in contrast to a shift in axial rotation as well as exploring the magnetic field anomalies found on this island. Another aspect is the potential effects of global warming in relation to Antarctica, which as I mentioned earlier forms an ironic bond with the dissolution of global weather patterns associated with the demise of Atlantis as well as our own potential reorientation to a new world in the face of the destruction of the one we currently inhabit. Again, history seems to have concealed itself in what may be a cyclic series of explorations or should we say, rediscoveries of what was once considered the prosaic, retold in narratives?





The Invasion of The Last Redoubt
Another thread is the persistent rumors and anecdotes surrounding the continuing activities of exploration upon this strange island continent,of something yet hidden from common view. A tragic, historical player familiar to those in ufology, U.S Secretary of The Navy, James Forrestal, who suffered a death still subject to speculation, falls into the asymmetrical pieces that form the fragments of an alternative history of a invasion force. An ill timed polar warfare training exercise or following the path of events buried in some obscure archive yet to be declassified?

Along this second path,England as well as the U.S was potentially involved in a covert, postwar search for a Nazi last redoubt, an operational base, as on July 18 1945, newspapers around the world focused their headlines on Antarctica. The New York Times stated "Antarctic Haven Reported", whilst others claimed that "Hitler had been at the South Pole". These headlines which shook the world were based, in part, on fact. The news reports and events happening in South America made the world sit up and take notice, not least the military forces of the United States and Great Britain. The whereabouts of at least a hundred other U-boats were still a mystery, as renowned historian Basil Liddell Hart noted: "During the early months of 1945 the size of the U-boat fleet was still increasing... In March, the U-boat fleet reached its peak strength of 463.

As we noted previously, the mystery deepened when, on July 10 1945, the German U-530 surrendered at Mar del Plata, Argentina, and it only took eight days for the world to know. However, the U-boat mystery did not end with U-530; just over a month later, on 17 August 1945, U-977 also surrendered at Mar del Plata. Even more curious was the fact that the same month, U-465 was scuttled off Patagonia.

Only three months after the Kreigsmarine’s U-boat’s strength had peaked, the first of the unaccounted-for U-boats appeared. Unfavorably though, historians tend to gloss over the enigma of the missing U-boats and Hart also offers no explanation other than to explain the 362 known U-boats’ fate: "After Germany surrendered in May, 159 U-boats surrendered but a further 203 were scuttled by their crews. That was characteristic of the U-boat crews’ stubborn pride and unshakeable morale."

With so many U-boats missing—a minimum of 40 were estimated missing at the end of the War—and with Britain still possessing one of the world’s largest navies and strategically based territories in the Falklands and Antarctica, Britain was the most ideally placed of all the Allies to deal with a Nazi haven.


Interestingly, the aforementioned sightings of postwar german submarines, brings to mind an unlikely Axis candidate left in charge of the remnants of the opposing Third Reich, another high ranking naval commander, which is puzzling inasmuch as Kriegsmarine leadership were the least obedient to the NSDAP and yet Hitler chose Grossadmiral Dönitz as his direct replacement.

"Adolf Hitler has been killed at the Reich Chancery in Berlin, according to Hamburg radio. At 2230 local time a newsreader announced that reports from the Fuhrer's headquarters said Hitler had "fallen at his command post in the Reich Chancery fighting to the last breath against Bolshevism and for Germany".It said he had appointed Grand Admiral Doenitz as his successor. There followed an announcement by Admiral Doenitz in which he called on the German people to mourn their Fuhrer who, he said, died the death of a hero in the capital of the Reich.Reports from Washington say US officials are suspicious of the announcement and are certainly not celebrating as yet. They fear the timing of Doenitz's appointment may mean that Hitler is not dead but trying to escape or go underground."

These Allied suspicions may have gone underground as well, inasmuch as declaring victory in the face of a question mark could have led to an embarrassing revelation in the form of a reconstituted and willfully determined enemy having gone literally underground in the most remote portion of the world that utilized a perfectly logical escape route, in fact, the only one available. the still considerable submarine fleet.

Why? Throughout the war, Argentina supplied German U-boats with supplies and kept track of their movements in the South Atlantic, to Tierra del Fuego, the Falklands, and Neu Schwabenland. Allegedly,the last communication out of Berlin from Göbbel's ministry was directed oddly enough to Tierra del Fuego, which seems a rather odd destination for a last communique at except for the fact that it was a tactical center for U boat operations. The German encryption code had long since been broken. Anyone familiar with military history knows full well that the Germans were master bunker builders and even in European Germany in 1945 under total bombardment plans were moving forward to move the entire population and industry underground.


The personnel of these U-Boats were more than likely interrogated by U.S. Intelligence agents who had more than likely suspected the existence of a remaining base of operations due to these extended postwar operations, as well as the fact, an unidentified covert base had been publicly and cryptically eluded to several times by Donitz himself beginning in 1943 when he announced “The German submarine fleet is proud of having built for the Fuhrer, in another part of the world, a Shangri-La on land, an impregnable fortress.”

The fact that the CIA had practically enfolded, intact, former Nazi intelligence officers and their operational activities in postwar Germany against their Russian adversaries lends the potential that the U.S had learned something was afoot and that the Reich had a Plan B.

Did the U.S military suspect they had been the subject of a ruse? The Nazis in a pragmatic recognition, guided by the eventual occupation and subsequent loss of Germany itself, if they had cast around for land still available for colonization would have found that found that Antarctica was at that time, the only continent still unclaimed without any native people to contend with. In essence, the only available location on the planet.

Admiral Byrd, who is burdened with a mythos concerning a "secret land" attached to him, arrived at Antarctica with an entire military armada of ships, planes and some 4,000 troops with provisions to last 6 months. However the the entire expedition lasted only 8 weeks, with only approximately three weeks of actual full-scale Antarctic operations. Did the Navy stumble upon something quite unexpected in their rush to find a last redoubt? More on this later as well as England's role.

This vintage propaganda film may have a subtext we have yet to determine. Those of us who have looked into the matter of a governing operational management of the UFO situation have long suspected that the auspices of Naval Intelligence may be the keystone of a covert investigative body tasked with the organization of activities revolving around this phenomenon. Is all this a matter of coincidence? Note the disclaimer in the introduction of this film regarding the "sequence of events" As previously noted, the haste in which this massive operation was undertaken in relation to it's non aggressive stance is counter intuitive to it's stated purpose.

The fact that this expedition was "rushed" is attested to by the fact that it was undertaken prior to the planned completion of a second icebreaker with disastrous results, having several ships being towed out of their imprisonment in ice, punctured hulls and a marooned submarine. Perhaps not surprisingly, no mention of these inconvenient truths are mentioned in this film. Who would plan and launch such an ambitious assault timing their arrival at the worst possible season in the Antarctic, at the onset of winter, unless haste was a higher priority? The early termination of the mission was never explained.

Now let us add the term USO and the origin of these phantoms who patrol our skies, in that if there origin is terrestrial, oceanic and purposefully hidden in the most remote continent upon our planet, do these disparate threads connect any dots on our map or theirs?
