"Once You Practice To Deceive.." Part Two of The Laboratory Earth Series
They examined the situation with a simple question, one that is so simple that the question supplied the answer. What is the future of a animal species that predominates a planet, obsessed with making tools, mating and destroying each other while consuming their own environment, thereby destroying it's natural systems? They could not consciously change their behaviors. Silence prevailed in the room.
Looking at no one in particular as if to himself he said softly:"They imagine they are evolving into immortal machines becoming immune to nature. More and more imaginable schemes" No one responded.
The conference was so silent, you could hear a pin drop across the room.
A throat was cleared and a brave soul spoke out that reflected what was on everyone's mind but could not say aloud. "Anything we could do will only worsen the situation..the implantation is a failure."
Others in the room quietly stirred in their seats.
One colleague slowly became irritated at this seeming impasse, and, when he could not contain this frustration, he silently walked to the front of the room and began to speak.
"It was our decision to implant that organ and it was ours to remove it. The organ created a interim solution to the main issue of the self awareness of their own imminent death while having gained life. We did not foresee the continuation of this behavior once it was removed. What are we proposing here? To wash our hands of a problem we have created?.These creatures did not occur naturally there and so we made a decision to transplant them as a stop gap measure and one stop gap has led to another. We have one planet destroyed and another en route. So now all of you sit there like stones. We have been asked to arrive at a solution and all you can agree on is that there is no solution."
One response lead to a participant rising from his chair.
"We need more time to study the situation"
" We have studied many possible solutions" another said " This situation is so bad that when it was approved that we could observe directly and monitor the situation as it unfolded, they still could not even recognize or cognate when we were right above their heads."
One could sense a consternation filling the room that was shared by all who were there.
"We cannot simply tell them the truth of their situation due to their instability. We have studied this before by indirect means and it so confused them they invented all manner of unpredictability, causing harm to themselves..there is no end run around the issue is their constitution"
" We cannot change it without verifiable results from your studies. Another issue is the length of time it would take to change it, by their self generating processes"
"I will not say I told you so, but you cannot make an exception by tampering with transplantation and not expect to see deviation from the norm."
" The report on trends there is not hopeful at all. That is why we are here. We need more methodologies"
" We can only develop them by further study. The eradication of species harmful to their development by reducing their populations to a unsustainable level radically reordered everything to these creatures needs, and in this case, I protest the alteration of the climate further. This experiment will lead to more issues. The reduction of the population does not solve the essential issue by managing the error while not correcting it"
"The instability of their climate has become observable to them and of course they cannot agree on a solution to this instability inasmuch as they cannot solve their own issues"
"I think we must all agree to continue the concurrent studies with experimentation and then reconvene next month and increase the frequency of both direct observations as well as our conferences.."
